Full Description

Hope Haven is recognized as one of the community’s leading nonprofit providers of specialized services for children and their families, and has earned the highest respect from its peers. Hope Haven was founded in 1926 and began its journey as a tuberculosis treatment center in North Jacksonville.  After outgrowing this facility, in 1940, Hope Haven built a large children’s hospital on Atlantic Boulevard. As modern medicine brought tuberculosis under control, Hope Haven shifted their attention to treating children afflicted with polio and other debilitating conditions.

Hope Haven continued to expand their services by providing general medical and surgical care for children until the 1980’s when major changes occurred in the healthcare system.  During this time, Hope Haven pivoted to limit their services to inpatient only.  Outpatient services were sold to Nemours and Hope Haven moved to a beautiful new campus overlooking Little Pottsburg Creek on Beach Boulevard. While Hope Haven is still located in this same location, their services continue to evolve as the needs of our community change.

Today, Hope Haven offers a wide variety of services for all ages, and serves more than 3,800 families each year. From neurodevelopmental evaluations to pre-school education, transition services for special needs, job coaching, mental health counseling, tutoring, after-school care, camps, parenting classes, and more. Hope Haven is Where Hope Transforms Families.
