Full Description

Through museum tour, oral history discussion, artifacts (ie. homemade toys, stove), and hands-on activities, students in 3rd grade and up will learn about the way of life of the Black community in Clay County in the late 1800s and beyond. Through photographs and discussion, students will also follow the journey of these early pioneering families through to their present successes. Staff can make arrangements for lunch or students may bring a lunch and enjoy it at the Hunter-Douglas Park. Call to arrange a free tour for September and later. Two-day notice required for groups.
