Full Description

At Baking History they believe that ‘When it comes to education, the most important thing is appetite’ (Winston Churchill). Their classes mix learning about historic events with the fun of baking and tasting. Each lesson begins with historical story-telling, in the course of which a dish from that same era or event, is introduced. As children consider and discuss issues related to the story, including its relevance to their own lives, they learn a recipe and get hands-on with the ingredients. Participants return home with new knowledge, some unanswered questions to keep their minds churning, a recipe they can prepare at home from now on, and something yummy for the family to taste.

Baking History classes take place in private homes, community centers and local venues, in groups of 6-10 participants. Contact them to schedule a workshop for your group or check out the events calendar to join one of their scheduled activities.
