West Duval Youth Assofiation baseball programs focus on the development of baseball skills, sportsmanship, and a love for the game, all in a fun, family-oriented community. WDYA is affiliated with Babe Ruth League Baseball. Our association is funded entirely by registration fees, concession profits, and sponsor donations, and is operated by dozens of member volunteers. West Duval Baseball offers a fun and competitive baseball experience for boys and girls ages 5 through 16.

Instructional T-Ball:

Pre T (Ages 3-5)
This is the beginning level where boys and girls to learn the basics of playing baseball for the first time. This level includes batting from the T as well as learning fundamentals of the game including hitting, base-running, throwing and fielding.

T-Ball (Ages 5-7)
This is the second level of baseball offered by the Association. Boys and girls will learn the fundamentals of baseball including batting off of the T (ages 5-6 only) and also includes coaches pitching.  Note that a player may enter the T-Ball program without participating in Pre-T as long as they are turning 5 within the season.

Baseball Program:

Rookie (7-8)
The pitching machine league (commonly referred to as Rookie) is designed for 7 and 8 year olds. By controlling pitches with a pitching machine, there is more action at the plate and in the field. The
rookie league is an excellent way to continue teaching the fundamentals of the game and building player confidence as well as preparing the player for “kid pitch” at the next level.

Minors (9-10)
This league is designed for 9 and 10 year olds. This is the level where “kid pitch” is introduced. Players at this age continue to develop and incorporate strategy into the game.

Majors (11-12)
The most experienced level of Cal Ripken Baseball, recommended for 11 and 12 year old players. Cal Ripken Baseball is played under the Official Baseball Rules, but implements some special rules as necessary for the development and welfare of this young age group.

Junior League (13-15)
This division must be comprised of players ages 13-15. Play is in accordance with Babe Ruth Rules.

Senior League (16-18)
This division must be comprised of players ages 16-18. Play is in accordance with Babe Ruth Rules.

Competitive Advanced Baseball (9-12)
The focus is on developing advanced level skills, sportsmanship, learning rules and positions and having fun while playing on a team. There may be additional cost for participating in advanced baseball.

Softball:

West Duval Youth Association Softball program is designed to allow girl athletes to compete together as a team. We are dedicated to teaching girls the sport of softball as well as teamwork, cooperation, sportsmanship and self-respect. All levels are in accordance with the Cal Ripken & Babe Ruth rules. Age divisions are similar to those listed for baseball.
