Full Description

The River City Youth Orchestra is a non-profit organization serving all of North East Florida. We place an emphasis on maintaining a high quality of musicianship, nurturing friendships, and providing a unique learning environment. Our professional, highly experienced conductors, educators, family, accomplished young musicians, staff, and community supporters are dedicated to helping young musicians pursue high musical standards while experiencing the benefits and witnessing the beauty of sharing their time and musicianship with others. The River City Youth Orchestra is a platform for orchestral training for the most talented young musicians who wish to participate. The joint efforts of our conductors will surely enrich the cultural life of our community and underscore the importance of music and music education.

The orchestras are comprised of musicians, ages 7 through 21, who are admitted through a competitive audition process. Debut Strings, Intermezzo Strings, and Aria Strings are for orchestral string players in their second year of study through intermediate levels. Festival Orchestra is a full orchestra of advanced student musicians including strings, brass, woodwinds, and percussion. We also offer Nova Strings, a group for young musicians who have never played or who have just begun. These players are offered the opportunity to expand their skills in classical music and to work with a peer group that has attained approximately the same level of expertise and skill.
