Full Description

Edison Kids is a home education resource based on the learning principles of STEAM, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. All their workshops and labs are designed and taught around the framework of the STEM philosophy, therefore multiple fields are incorporated in a lab, as opposed to studying them in isolation.

The workshops are fun, hands-on and project-based learning, not the traditional model of classroom teaching. The aim of each workshop is to introduce students to technology, skills and knowledge in a manner that will equip them for their future. Labs will be theme based with a broad spectrum of topics covered with a real-world focus. Coaches are not teachers, and lab concepts are meant to be explored together with guidance from the Coaches. Students are expected to take more of an active role in their experience.

They have incorporated STEM based competitions that allow students the opportunity to compete within these disciplines and enhance their learning. These competitions not only open the door to meeting teams from all over the world but are geared towards developing important skills such as integrity, critical thinking, team-building and presentation skills.

At the end of the year Edison Kids will host a Science Fair so students can gain the challenge of working through a science experiment from start to finish. Their aim is to ignite imaginations and inspire students.
