Mommy & Me Ballet (2-4 yrs old) - Mommy and Me is a fun, supportive dance class for 2+ years olds to share with their moms. This one-hour class uses imagination and creativity to develop your child’s coordination, balance and flexibility. Share a magical moment and help your child discover the joy of dance. Mother and child should come dressed in comfortable clothes that allow for ease of movement.

Creative Movement (3-4 yrs old) - Creative Movement, the very beginning of dance education, teaches young children to better understand themselves and the world around them ; inspiring the inner self in conjunction with the physical body. Through imaginative lessons, children will be inspired to move in ways that build balance, rhythm, and reflexes, as well as creativity and art and music appreciation. A cultural experience for the young explored through movement. Students must be potty-trained and able to dress/undress themselves (teacher cannot leave others to help in restroom).

Ballet (Ages 5-up) - Abella’s School of Dance is proud to include the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum, a breakthrough 8 level program that combines high quality artistic training with the basics of dancer health and child development. The ABT® National Training Curriculum consists of a comprehensive set of age-appropriate, outcome-based guidelines to provide the highest quality ballet training to dance students of all ages and skill levels.

Modern (Ages 8-up) - An emphasis in modern and post-modern movement. This strays from traditional technical training and explores new movement patterns that focus on the avant-garde and unconventional. Classes begins with exercises that emphasize alignment, extension, release, weight, momentum, and force, and finishes with movement phrases that explores the dancer’s relationship with space. The goal is to develop intelligent, strong dancers that are prepared for their dance future.

Contemporary/Lyrical (Ages 8-up) - A mixture of contemporary modern movement and lyrical dance, which requires an understanding of ballet and jazz technique. Movement is set to music that promotes storytelling through lyrics and emotional response.

Jazz (Ages 8-up) - An intense focus on jazz technique that consists of parallel positioning, isolations, progressions, and staccato movement. This class develops strength, flexibility, and body placement knowledge.

Tap (Ages 5-7 yrs) - Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion.

Character (Ages 9-up) - The presence of character dancing in Classical Ballet is undeniable; many of our favorite story ballets such as Coppelia, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker exhibit character dance as a way to illustrate an era, a region and most importantly, a character!  It is certainly an advantage as a dancer to have experience in Character Dance.   Abella’s School of Dance honors the tradition of classical ballet study and feels that a character dance class is an essential part to a dancer’s education.
Character dance class explores rhythms (thus enhancing the dancer’s musicality), engages the use of the torso and épaulement, and opens up the opportunity for creative expression, while also introducing music and classical folkloric movements from around the world.

Tumbling (Ages 8-up) - Introduces the art of tumbling & begins to develop USA Gymnastics skill progressions, flexibility, proper technique, strength, and core control. Conditioning will be a major emphasis to help strengthen & sharpen tumbling moves.  Safety is our number one priority, so students will be required to master fundamental skills before moving up to the next skill or level.  Some gymnastics apparatus maybe used for training.

Private lessons are available at an additional cost.
