Asian Dragon Martial Arts teaches the unique karate style of Tatsu Te Ryu Karate Jutsu, which is a ryuwa of Tatsu Te Ryu Karate Systems. This style is structured as a semi-traditional art and is taught with the same etiquette, conduct and philosophies as found within a Japanese dojo. While we do focus on developing self-discipline, personal growth, and good moral character of a student, Tatsu Te Ryu Karate-Jutsu aims to develop a students warrior side as well. They focus on self-defenses, ground work, and real life combat scenarios in an effort to give their students an advantage in any defensive situation. This dynamic style teaches its student to uses their skills quickly and effectively when faced with a dangerous situation. Tatsu Te Ryu Karate Systems are an American “Blended” martial art system. This system is extensively based on the experience of its founder; Shidoshi Geoffrey R. Spohn. Within the curriculum you will find the following disciplines represented; Traditional Karate (Shotokan / Shorin Ryu / Okinawan Goju / Kyokushin), Jujutsu, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, and Ninjutsu. We use the term Blended Martial Art instead of Mixed Martial Art intentionally. Most mixed martial arts focus on the growth of a fighter and in-ring ability rather than the growth of the individual. While we want our students to be able to competently and effectively defend themselves, we also want to see them grow mentally and ethically as well. The principles of Tatsu Te Ryu Karate Systems mirror that of the philosophy for Shotokan founder Gichin Funakoshi; who said “The ultimate aim of karate lies not in victory or defeat, but rather in the perfection of the character of its participant. Students who train in Martial Arts experience improvements in: Self-Control Focus Confidence Discipline Coordination Grades in school Respect for others Athletic performance in other sports Skills to deal with bullies Self-defense Environmental awareness to avoid dangerous situations
