Family Reading Day

Full Description

Kids of all ages are invited to Family Reading Day at James Wheldon Johnson Park.  There will be free book giveaways, activities, face painting, balloon twisting, special guests and more.  Show up dressed as your favorite book character and parade around the park with your favorite PBS Kids characters.   There will be special appearances by Jacksonville Zoo and some of their favorite animal ambassadors, B. Barkley with free children's books and reading incentives, and Clifford the Big Red Dog, Xavier Riddle, Buddy the Dinosaur, and Molly Denali from PBS Kids.  A free boxed lunch from Firehouse Subs will also be provided. 

Schedule of Events:
11am — Opening ceremonies with Tenikka Hughes from Action News Ja
11:10am — Children's Book Character Parad
12noon — Prizes awarded in the Kids & Teens Book Review Writing Contes
12:15pm — Meet Vincent Taylor, author of the Cornbread children’s book series
1pm — Closing ceremonies
