BACK TO SCHOOL EVENTS

Back 2 School Drive
Thru August 31
Bridge of Life Church is collecting school supplies and monetary donations for their annual Back 2 School Drive.  The Backpack Fund will collect money to contribute to a fund for backpacks for underprivileged students.  The community can also donate School Supplies to the physical collection bin in the sanctuary.

2024 Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday
Thru August 11
The annual Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday has been extended for 2024.  During this sales tax holiday period, qualifying items will be exempt from tax including: clothing, footwear, and accessories costing $100 or less, school supplies costing $50 or less, learning aids and jigsaw puzzles selling for $30 or less, and computers and accessories (when purchased for non-commercial and personal use) selling for $1,500 or less.

The Salvation Army of Clay County 8th Annual Backpack Outreach
August 2, 11am to 2pm
Join staff and community members at the 8th Annual Backpack Outreach event at The Salvation Army. Gather together with other organizations to raise awareness about the needs and services available for area children and families of Clay County. The event provides activities for children while providing information to families and caregivers about the services available to them in the community. Backpacks filled with essential supplies will be provided to those in need while supplies last.  There will be free sports & school physicals from Ascension St. Vincent's Mobile Outreach, free backpacks filled with school supplies while supplies last from Winn Dixie/Project Reach/TSA, free haircuts from Sports Clips, free eye exams and glasses from Florida Heiken Children's Vision Program, and free hot dogs and snow cones. Harvest Ministries Back to School Bash

Join the Historic Eastside Back to School event for an inspiring experience. The goal is to fuel students' aspirations towards high school and beyond, providing access to diverse postsecondary options. They are committed to guiding students to attend and graduate from postsecondary institutions, obtaining certificates, degrees, or specialized training.   At the fair, students will learn about the college admissions process, explore unique opportunities at FSCJ, and connect with college representatives.

Clay County Community Outreach & School Supply Giveaway

Join Springs Church Outreach for a day filled with community spirit and connection. This in-person gathering aims to bring together residents of the local neighborhoods for a day of activities and engagement. Whether you're a long-time resident or new to the area, this event is a great opportunity to meet your neighbors and build a stronger community. Don't miss out on this chance to connect with others, receive kids supplies, groceries, life resources and more. There will be vendors from various businesses, including from Medical, Recovery, Special Needs, Children's Services, Educational, Financial, Senior Citizens Services, Veterans Services, assistance for new mothers, homeless services, and more. A hot lunch, groceries & school supplies will be served until supplies run out. Child receiving the supplies needs to be present. Kids haircuts will be free, and there will be bounce houses and face painting as well. Free.

1st Annual Back to School Clothes Swap
August 6, 4pm to 7pm
Main Event Jacksonville celebrates back to school with the 1st Annual Back to School Clothes Swap.  Bring in your new or lightly used kids clothes to the sales office any day of the week from 10am-6pm. Items must be freshly washed with no rips, stain, smells, etc. Receive a voucher for the # of items you brought in and come back on Tuesday, August 6th to go shopping at our pop-up thrift store. You can shop for up to the same number of items you brought in. Donations are always welcome as all unclaimed items will be donated to a local charity.

Families are invited for the St. Augustine Kids Expo.  There will be important information from family-friendly resources and afterschool & year-round programs to help with that process.  Kids can get a temporary tattoo, pet a reptile, get a balloon animal, make a craft, tackle the obstacle course, watch youth group performances, and participate in hands-on activities.  Free.

PVB Back to School Celebration
